Want to install Google Analytics into your WordPress website? You’ve come to the right place.
Seeing your analytics is vital to the success of your blog or website. It should be done as soon as possible, even if you are just starting your website.
The goal when you first create your blog is to drive traffic to your site and convince them to return.
In order to reach this goal, you need to be able to make data driven decisions.
So let’s get started with connecting your Google Analytics to WordPress with MonsterInsights.
Google Analytics tells you a bunch of very useful information, especially if you want more visitors and subscribers.

To get started, first visit the Google Analytics sign up page. It will require you to sign in with a Gmail account.
You will then be directed to a page that looks like this.
Click on “Start measuring”.
You will then be asked to provide a name for you account. This can be your name or your business name.
Enter your name and then scroll down.
Click the “Next” button.
Now, type in the name of your business or your website.
Important: make sure to bring up the advanced options!
Press “Next” when you’re done.
In the advanced options, make sure to create both a Google Analytics 4 and a Universal Analytics property. This way, you can use the tag they give you to connect to MonsterInsights.
Now, press “Next” and continue with the setup process.
Again, fill out this quick questionnaire to continue.
Press “Create” and you will be prompted to accept a terms of service agreement.
Now, you will be able to choose a platform for your analytics. Click on “Web” on the left.
You will be asked to fill out your website’s URL and name.
Press “Create stream” when you are done with that step.
You will see a new page with all your tagging instructions. Scroll down and open “Connected Site Tags”. This will contain the tracking code you need later.
Congratulations, you successfully signed up for your Google Analytics account.
Now, let’s see how to install it into WordPress using MonsterInsights.
MonsterInsights is the most popular plugin for getting analytics sent to your website. It has over 3 million downloads on WordPress with lots of popular sites using it daily.
Go ahead and download it first and activate the plugin.

Once it is downloaded and activated, you will be able to see an “Insights” button at the top of your WordPress menu dashboard. Click on it to bring up the setup menu.
Choose the best answer for your site and continue.
In the next screen, you will have to provide the license key that you received by email after getting MonsterInsight.
You will then be prompted to log into your Gmail account. Choose the same email that you used to sign up for Google Analytics.
Allow all the permissions and continue.
Click on the website profile you just created earlier and complete the connection.
You will see some more settings now. Don’t make any changes here. Scroll down to see more.
Now, you will be able to make some changes depending on your preference. The affiliate link tracking can be changed if you want to change the way your url looks with affiliate links.
You can also allow other users to see the analytics if you want to.
Save and continue when you are done setting up here.
